We are extremely pleased to welcome back popular San Diego teachers Mary Obendorfer and Eddy Marks now that they are able to travel again.

This is an opportunity to learn with teachers that are certified at an advanced level with a wealth of experience and the ability to convey BKS Iyengar’s illuminated teachings with great clarity, insight and a very positive energy.

They co-direct the BKS Iyengar Yoga Center of San Diego which was established in 1979 and have taught throughout the US and worldwide to share what they feel they were privileged to learn directly from the Iyengar family.

This workshop explores an approach they have been developing they call ‘essential openings’.

“There is a core group of essential openings that, once mastered, bring ease in the basic postures and allows one to attempt the intermediate and advanced postures with safety and efficacy.

While the combination of movements the human body can make are myriad, the actual basic openings at any one joint are often limited. Mastering these basic openings makes entire families of poses easier to accomplish.

This workshop will teach you which openings are in the core group, how to open them and how to support that opening with stability for life-long success and ease.”

The workshop is suitable for intermediate and general level Iyengar yoga students..

The workshop is best experienced complete but it will be possible to book for individual sessions.

Weekend workshop £150

  • Friday session 8 Sep (6-8 pm) Essential openings - twists working from hard to easy

  • Saturday session 9 Sep

    (10am-1pm) Essential openings - shoulders working to increase range of motion, strength and stability

    (2.30-5pm) Essential openings - back extensions

  • Sunday session 10 Sep

    (10am-1pm) Essential openings - knees and how best to bring them ease, pliability and stability

    (2.30-5pm) Essential openings - hip flexion and expanding the range and ease of movement
